Santa Fe artist Barbara Meikle will once again join forces with Animal Protection of New Mexico’s Equine Protection Program for the Fifth Annual Historic Canyon Road Paint Out. Join us on October 20th at the Barbara Meikle Fine Art studio located at 236 Delgado Street, Santa Fe, NM 87501. The event will run from 10AM to 2PM. Come meet the artist along with a special guest donkey named Raphael and watch Barbara Meikle paint him right before your eyes!
Graciously, Ms. Meikle looks for creative opportunities to benefit the lives of horses, donkeys, and mules through her work. In 2012, the Barbara Meikle Fine Art gallery launched the Horse Power program, with portraits of horses, donkeys, and mules available by commission. The artist has generously agreed to donate a portion of the proceeds from these commissions to benefit the lifesaving programs of the Equine Protection Fund.
Horse Power is also the title of a new hardcover collection of Ms. Meikle’s most popular horse paintings, available for purchase through the gallery. $25 from each book sold will be donated to APNM’s Equine Protection Fund, so be sure to order one for you and for a loved one!
Over 100 artists will participate in this not-to-be missed outdoor event that stretches the length of Santa Fe’s historic Canyon Road. The fifth annual Paint Out continues a tradition of painting “en plein air” that began a century ago on this fabled Santa Fe road when artists first arrived with early settlers.
A festival parade with marching bands takes place at noon and students from the Santa Fe Public Schools Music Education Program will perform in the early afternoon. Music, food, art shows, and refreshments will be offered at locations all along Canyon Road.
Please join us for this fun filled event and support art for a cause!
