APNM’s Straw Fund Needs Your Help

Help keep animals warm this winter!

When the temperature drops below freezing, most of us just turn up the heat. But that's simply not an option for the hundreds of New Mexico companion animals living outdoors. Animal Protection of New Mexico’s Straw Fund ensures the availability of insulating straw for a backyard dog house or other outdoor shelter within Albuquerque, Bernalillo County, Santa Fe and Santa Fe County. Straw is an effective, inexpensive insulation—just one bale can help keep three animals warm! At only $7 per bale, even small contributions to APNM’s Straw Fund go a long way toward providing wintertime protection for companion animals living outdoors.

Hundreds of animals will be more comfortable during the cold weather because of you!

By giving to APNM’s Straw Fund, you help us ensure we have enough resources to address every need. In 2011, APNM launched the fund through a partnership with the City of Albuquerque Animal Welfare Department and Bernalillo County Animal Care Services. We’re excited to announce the beginning of a new partnership this winter with the City of Santa Fe Animal Services Division and the Santa Fe County Animal Control Department, allowing us to expand the fund’s reach into new communities!

It’s easy to contribute, and you can even do so in someone else’s name as a gift! Please visit our donation page or call us at 505-265-2322, ext. 29.

Note: The Straw Fund currently operates only within Bernalillo County and Santa Fe County, but with your help, we hope to offer this valuable service for animals in other cities and counties in New Mexico.
