2000 Milagro Awards

Animal Protection of New Mexico (APNM) honored nine humanitarians at its first Milagro (Miracle) Awards Dinner and Ceremony, held Saturday, November 18th, 2000 at the Hotel Santa Fe. The awards recognize individual and collaborative acts of humane integrity.

Awardees included:

Advocacy Award: Congressman Tom Udall (D-New Mexico)

Animal Award: Duchess, a female Boxer

APNM’s Board of Directors’ Award: Robert “Skip” and Mary Trimble

Direct Animal Services Award: The Santa Fe Animal Shelter and Humane Society

Two Executive Director’s Awards: Senator Mary Jane Garcia and Representative David Pederson

Humane Education Award: State Land Commissioner, Ray Powell, Jr., DVM

Media Award: Santa Fe New Mexican Columnist, Wes Smalling

Youth Award: Wild Friends
