Feral Cat Services:
Trap/Neuter/Return (TNR) is a comprehensive, ongoing program in which free-roaming and feral cats already living outdoors in cities, towns, and rural areas are humanely trapped, medically evaluated, vaccinated, and sterilized by veterinarians, then returned to their original location.

Low-cost spay/neuter available for dogs and cats - no income restriction for clients. Serving Raton, Springer, Cimarron, Maxwell, Wagon Mound and Clayton areas. Two programs available: 1) (year-round) Client pays half, Humane Society pays half; 2) On the first Saturday in May each year, $35 spay/neuter certificates that are valid for one year may be purchased. Spay/neuter services must be provided by veterinary clinic within Raton - cannot be done outside of Raton if going through either program. RHS has initiated TNR for feral cats where any person may trap a cat and take them to Raton Veterinary Hospital (exclusive relationship) for further TNR assistance. If animal is up to date on vaccinations and licensing and ONLY spay/neuter is needed, the cost is $25 for cats and $35 for dogs. Total cost if all vaccination and licensing is needed (which includes microchipping, licensing, spay/neuter, cone for male dogs, and rabies vaccination) is $52 for male or female cats, $62 for female dogs and $67 for male dogs. Low-cost spay/neuter program via PAW is administered through Animal Village NM. Registration for program is every Monday, Wednesday & Friday from 2 pm to 4 pm by PAW representative, Lisa Yehle. Income requirement is combined total family income equal to or less than $30,000.00 per year. Pets must be up to date on vaccinations. If not vaccinated, arrangements may be made to have animal vaccinated on day of surgery. Spay/neuter surgery cost is $45 copay and PAW will cover the rest - this does not include vaccination costs. Services are available for Otero and Lincoln Counties. If in Lincoln County, services are provided through Ruidoso Animal Clinic, but if Clinic is booked far in advance services may be provided by veterinarian in Otero County.

Income requirement is combined total family income equal to or less than $30,000.00 per year. Pets must be up to date on vaccinations. If not vaccinated, arrangements may be made to have animal vaccinated on day of surgery. Spay/neuter surgery cost is $45 copay and PAW will cover the rest - this does not include vaccination costs. Services are available for Otero and Lincoln Counties. If in Lincoln county, services are provided through Ruidoso Animal Clinic, but if Clinic is book far in advance services may be provided in Otero County.
