A Sweet Dog Discovers Life, Untethered:
Your Digital Making Tracks is Here
In 2017, the Santa Fe Board of County Commissioners approved a ban on the tethering of dogs and other animals. APNM’s Humane Communities team had pushed for that legislation and celebrated its passage. Continuing their mission to help animals in Santa Fe County, the Humane Communities team started a pilot project building fences for people who could not otherwise afford to fence their yard. This would be a way to give formerly tethered dogs the freedom and safety of a fenced enclosure, while also ensuring that their human companions abided by the new law. Stormy, a sweet and spunky dog, was the first fence recipient. Read about how the Humane Communities team gave Stormy a wonderful new life…untethered.
Also in this issue, you can learn about Animal Protection Voters’ arduous uphill battle and regrettable defeat in its efforts to bring badly needed spay and neuter funding to New Mexico.
