Use Your Tax Refund to Help Animals

New Mexico makes it easy to donate all or part of your state tax refund to animals in need!

You can donate all or part of your tax refund via the 2024 PIT-D New Mexico Voluntary Contributions Schedule when you file your taxes.

Check the box next to the Equine Shelter Rescue Fund (line #14), the Share with Wildlife Contribution (line #3), or the Animal Care and Facility Fund (line #15)—or donate an amount to all three funds! Your tax refund will go to abused, abandoned, and neglected equines; support services for New Mexico’s non-game and endangered wildlife; or statewide dog and cat spay and neuter funding and programs.

Bernie

Your contribution to the Equine Shelter Rescue Fund will help licensed rescue facilities continue their essential work to rehabilitate and re-home horses, mules, and donkeys like Bernie. Mini horse Bernie suffered years of neglect that left him in pain and unable to walk. Thanks to support from the Equine Shelter Rescue Fund, Four Corners Equine Rescue was able to provide medical care and rehabilitation and help Bernie find his forever home!

Take a few easy steps today to support New Mexico’s animals!

Even if you don’t receive a state tax refund this year, consider contributing directly.

Equine Shelter Rescue Fund

Mail a check payable to “New Mexico Livestock Board” with “Equine Shelter Rescue Fund” in the memo.
