Information: The McKinley County Humane Society has a targeted dog or cat spay and neuter program aimed at assisting those citizens most in need: the elderly, disabled, or very low income. Participants must meet one of following requirements (income information is subject to verification):
- Elderly (70 or more years of age);
- Disabled (qualify for Social Security disability income payments);
- Low income (eligible for LIHEAP)

Information: The Santa Fe Animal Shelter and Humane Society offers low-cost spay and neuter programs to help ensure fewer unwanted puppies and kittens and to help with overall health of pets. There are limited no-cost spay or neuter surgeries available for qualified families. All services are by appointment only and with curbside check in for your convenience. Information: The Zimmer Feline Foundation provides spay/neuter vouchers for lower-income families to fix their indoor companion cats for free at participating veterinary clinics (located in Bernalillo, Chaves, Colfax, McKinley, Rio Arriba, San Juan, San Miguel, Santa Fe, Socorro, Taos, and Valencia Counties).
